Commitment to Scholarship AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. Commitment to College Loyalty From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain. Let me be the first to welcome you to the Tau Mu chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. My name is Brooke Coggins, and I have the honor of serving as the eighth president of AOII at Texas A&M University, as well as representing our chapter to the Panhellenic community. Coming into college, I knew I wanted to find a sisterhood of supportive and loving women that I would cherish throughout my life. I had been inspired by an older friend who was in a sorority at her school. I am thankful every day for the friends I now have and the bonds we share. I have so many wonderful memories that we have made together so far, and I know we will be dear friends after graduation too. The women of AOII are ambitious, dedicated, and loyal - always striving for the betterment of their chapter and their community. They are kind and compassionate yet fearless and strong. I cannot express how lucky I am to lead women that are so inspiring to me. These are the women that will change the world. The opportunity to go to college is so precious, yet at the same time, it can be a difficult transition for a lot of students. A dependable community makes the college experience less scary and more exciting. AOII is here to help young women build relationships that last a lifetime, empower themselves, and pursue their passions. While this chapter is still in its growth period at Texas A&M University, the women of Alpha Omicron Pi have accomplished so much since our founding. We have hosted annual events for our philanthropies each spring and fall: Strike Out Arthritis benefits our international philanthropy, The Arthritis Foundation, and Taco ’bout the Troops benefits our local philanthropy, Soldiers’ Angels. AOIIs have been able to serve our community by participating in the Big Event, TAMU BUILD, and Our Helping Paws. We have also had the opportunity to support our philanthropy by participating in Songfest, and we won Crowd Favorite 2 years in a row! (whoop whoop!) My chapter’s heart for service benefits our community in big ways, and I am very excited to see the impact they make with their passion for serving. Being an Aggie is an experience in itself, but being a sorority woman in the Greek Community at Texas A&M University gives you a deeper experience of the unique culture of our campus. My sisters each exemplify what it means to be an Aggie, and I could not be more proud to lead a group dedicated to upholding the core values we hold so dear. On December 23, 1896, the four climbed the stairs in a small gallery of the old Columbia College Library which led to an old and seldom used room. On January 2, 1897, Alpha Omicron Pi was formally organized at the home of Helen St. Clair.
